The Fuss About Hilary Duff
Hilz is already having a big 2026.
Last fall, early 2000's icon and professional dancer, Hilary Duff announced her first new album in a decade. The album is called "Luck...or Something," (what does it mean!) and comes out on February 20th. For this album, she worked with her music-producer-and-professional-Instagram-troll-(more on this later)-husband, Matthew Koma.
Hilary released the first single from her new album, Mature, in November, and as she hints in the name, our girl has grown up. "Going down on her on your vintage rug" is a lyric – wow! It's giving Old-Hilary-Can't-Come-to-the-Phone-Right-Now.
Online sleuths think it's about her previous relationship with Joel Madden -- who knows, who cares!
This week, amidst the beginnings of the promotional cycle for the album, Hilary, a mom of 4, has been accused of being part of a Toxic Mom Group. Yikes!
The article, published in The Cut, is written by Ashley Tisdale (she goes by Ashley French now, but She Will Always Be Ashley Tisdale To Me), describes how Tisdale was constantly excluded from plans by the Mom Group, and eventually it got so bad that she had to "break up" with them. One of the key members of the group, although never explicitly named, is our girl Hilary.
Side note: I still don’t fully understand what a Mom Group is. Is it a group of strangers you’re assigned after having kids, where the entire basis of the friendship is said kids? Or is it the same friends you've always had, but now rebranded as Moms™?
ANYWAY, after the article came out, aforementioned Husband-of-Hilary, Matthew Koma, felt he had to go online to defend her, posting this:

My Non-Mom-Group-Text (I guess one day if/when we become moms, it'll be a Mom Group Text?? Make it make sense!) reminded me of the only appropriate response to this:
Nene Leakes dragging Peter saying, “No no no, let me just say this. Liste– let me just say this Gregg. This what you need to do: you need to stay out of women business... you are causing fucking problems!”. pic.twitter.com/dCs1PV3CrO

All hail Nene Leakes.
To distract from the Mom Group Drama that her husband only made worse (classic!), Hilary released a sneak peek of another NSFW song from the upcoming album on Instagram:
"...I’m touching myself by the front door / But you don’t even look my way no more.” I really love the use of "no more" here, give the girl a Grammy already!
Expect a full album review in February. In the meantime, we wish them all the best.

This week's Something Good is a Rover commercial (not sponsored) I saw while watching Mad Men for the fourth time, but the first time on HBO with ads.
Perfect use of a perfect song.
Sometimes capitalism is something good. (Don't quote me on that.)
